WHO AM I ?
Photographer, Traveller & Blogger
Hi, I’m Ania Tomczak – a video journalist. I graduated from journalism and social
communication (bachelor’s degree) in Poland and a tri-national master’s degree in Poland,
France and Germany. After studying in Europe, I moved to Indonesia, where I was a lecturer in
the communications department at a university in East Java. During my stay in the country, I
took part in various projects and initiatives – mainly at universities and schools. In addition, I
participated in many videos and wrote the script for one short film, among other things. Over the
past few years I have lived mainly in Malang, Bali and Jakarta.
I studied Indonesian language at two universities in Malang and Surabaya. I also took a
year-long online class with a private tutor. Knowing the Indonesian language has helped me
better understand the people and culture of the country.
My passion for making videos and communicating with others led me to create the “Globe in the
Hat” travel project, which I started while living in France in 2016, and then continued mainly in
Indonesia since 2017.
In my films I mainly focus on local life, culture, traditions and cultural differences, presenting
them in a humorous way. I simply like to show the behind-the-scenes of life in a country, things
that are not visible at first glance.
I am recording, editing and translating everything myself 🙂
